The weather grows cooler, leaves change colors, and you turn your head to find that it is close to midnight and something evil is lurking in the dark. That is right it is spooky season. Are you worried about wasting your money on a haunted house that barely made you shiver? Or are your biggest concerns about parking fees and appropriateness? You do not have to worry because these are the top of the line haunted houses guaranteed to make your heart skip a beat.

Necropolis has four major attractions that the public enjoys: The House, The Cemetery, The Factory, and newly created this year The Hotel. The haunted house offers one sub attraction that serves as a timed game called, “MAINTENANCE MAN’S REVENGE”. It only costs five dollars and can have up to six players. Necropolis takes the number four spot due to its lack of a scare factors.

Some may find themselves being the type of person that is not easy to scare when it comes to haunted houses. One may search for the perfect haunted house every year that makes them want to run home and scream for dear life. Although zombies and nuns approaches very slowly and then only stare in customers in the face for five minutes, the idea that there is little effort involved is given. Where is the growling or a chainsaw to say the least? Also, the blood looked like week-old ketchup from McDonalds.

Thirty-two year old mother of two boys Andy Rie says, “At first I was skeptical about taking my sons to a haunted house because they’re only seven and nine but this one barely made them flinch”.

Her husband, Eric Rie, spent over $70 for the night, and tickets for the four of them alone cost $66.

“I felt like the night was a waste of money and could have been used for either a better haunted house or for pumpkin carving. We went to this one because it was the closest. This is just a lesson to do your research,” Eric Rice said.

#3- The Thirteenth Hour

The Thirteenth Hour is located near Keystone Avenue and has been up and running for over thirteen years! Along with giving a good scare, money spent upon the haunted house will not be a waste because all of the proceeds are donated to a charity.

They offer free parking for all participants and even have a kids night for parents who want to take their kids out for a fun time without scaring them to death. Senior Jamya Hatton visited this haunted house twice over the Halloween season and has a good view on the haunted house.

“I loved the haunted house. They scared me to the point where I almost peed my pants. The food was delicious and I definitely made memories that I’ll never forget,” Hatton said.

Haunted house goers can expect the experience to be fair, but may enjoy the company of friends the most. People can expect to be frightened at most two or three times.

More employees could have put more effort into the scare factor. The scare tactics were indolent and could have put in more effort. Many customers hardly entertained such as Junior Miciah McDowell, all she did was laugh it off and viewed it as juvenile behavior.

“When we went with you (me) it felt like I was in a comedy show honestly. I could have stayed home and watched comedy central if that was the case,” said Junior Miciah McDowell.

#2- Haunted Angelus House

In the third spot is Haunted Angelus House has everything one could ever ask for from a haunted house and more. Haunted House goers loved every aspect of it and each attraction.

Like “The Thirteenth Hour” haunted house, Haunted Angelus House also donates its proceeds to charity that raises money for a cerebral palsy group.

“With what I’ve been told by the haunted house’s social media accounts, they’re main focus is the ticket sales for the group but are still very aware of keeping customers happy. They make it a balancing act,” Parent Diana Wile said.

The haunted house offers various attractions for children such as toned down attractions, trick or treating, and hayrides. They also have the large scary areas for those looking for a good fright!

“Oh my god I almost started crying, but a happy scare crying, because my heart was just pumping out of my chest. I will definitely be there next year,” first time haunted house participant Junior Justine Dorsey said.
