Athletic Director Jared Hansley has stirred up trouble after he posted a video saying,"If you really want someone to blame, blame the girls. Because they pretty much ruin everything.” The video has been removed but has still raised comments from parents and the superintendent. People were shocked and disgusted to hear what he had to say about females. His comments relate to all the sexual assault allegations that have arisen in the media lately. People like Bill Cosby have been involved in the speculations and Hansley is just a reminder of how women are treated in society. Although, some students feel that his comments were just jokingly remarks and meant no harm.
I believe that Hansley should not have said what he said and needs to realize what he says affects others. Saying something derogatory like that that refers to women is bound to raise issues and he should have reviewed what he said before posting the video. Not everyone will know that he is joking, if he is, in this video because this can be a very sensitive subject. When I first watched the video, I thought this man was sexist and had something against women. This just goes to show that certain things should not be said or have serious clarification.
